Our Vision and Values
We are a community with an ambitious curriculum, focused and thoughtful classrooms and great learning. We empower our students to use their education to be kind and community minded and to thrive in happy and healthy lives.
We have four key values that underpin our decisions, actions and behaviours as a community
“We are so incredibly proud of our students and diverse community, we think this is part of what makes us special and so it felt completely natural to celebrate this by sharing some of the traditions from the many cultures represented within our school.”
Emily harper, Headteacher at St James
Our Four Pillars:
Kindness
We want to help our students grow into kind teenagers and kind adults. We teach our community to do the right thing, because it is the right thing, because that benefits them and their community.
Equity for all (through the highest of standards)
We believe all students, no matter what their background should have access to an excellent education and a wide range of opportunities. To achieve this, we recognise that individuals have different circumstances and sometimes we need to provide different resources and opportunities to reach an equal outcome for all.
Community at the heart
We recognise that as a school community we are part of something bigger. We want to work with our community to make our local area and city a great place to live and study. We actively engage with a wide variety of community groups and we understand that we can make great change collectively.
Diversity and celebration
We are a diverse school and we celebrate this through our culture days, diversity groups and events such as whole-school assemblies. We actively celebrate difference and appreciate the benefits this has for our community. We are proud of our community and the fact that everyone is welcome.
