We do hope year 11 enjoyed their celebration events and the prom and that they are looking forward to the summer holiday before they start their next phases of education. I wanted to write to you outlining the plans for results day.

Please note that the points below:

  • GCSE results day is on Thursday 25 August.
  • Students can come to collect their results between 10am and 12pm (midday).
  • There will be members of the Senior Leadership Team on hand to support students and to provide any advice or guidance needed on next steps.
  • The school building will close at 12pm; therefore, students will not be able to collect results after this.
  • If a student would like someone else to collect their results for them, they need to ask that person to come to school in the hours noted above. They must bring a signed letter from the child stating they give permission for that person to collect their results; otherwise, they will not be issued.
  • Any results not collected by 12pm on Thursday 25 August 2022 will be posted to your child’s home address by first class post.
  • If your child is out of the country on results day and would like the results to be emailed to them, they would need to send a request to gcseresults@stjamesexeter.co.uk to allow us to facilitate this.
  • Please not the school phone lines will not be open on results day, or during the school holidays.

Mr Brown has already written outlining transition, particularly to Exeter College. Please note that Exeter College will open a dedicated GCSE helpline on 25 August. This is for students to use if they didn’t quite get the grades they were hoping for. Exeter College are very experienced at dealing with this, and they will work with your child to find the best way forward. This might mean a slight change in the course, but not always. It is very important that all students attend the college enrolment day, even if they have not got the required GCSE results. The GCSE Helpline is 01392 40055. Please remember that you (or your son/daughter) can access loads of useful information on the Exeter College website here: https://exe-coll.ac.uk/school-leavers/support/college-advice-team/ The College Advice Team (Caroline) are available all year round to support students to make the right choices. Contact them on 01392 400600 or cat@exe-coll.ac.uk. If you child is applying to another local college/sixth form, I would always start by looking at the website to find any information you need. If you cannot find it there, just let Mr Brown know.

I wish you and your family a safe and happy summer.
