10th December 2021

Dear Parents/Carers
As we near the end of term, we are preparing some festive celebrations here at St James,
including our Christmas lunch, Christmas showcase and our last day Christmas celebrations. I
hope this letter will help keep you fully informed but if you have any questions, do not hesitate
to let me know.

Christmas Lunch
We will be having our Christmas lunch on Wednesday 15th December. There is no requirement
to pre-book the Christmas lunch, but please be advised that the canteen will not be serving any
other food on this date and will not be open during break time. Therefore, please ensure your
child brings a snack for break time and a packed lunch if they do not wish to have the Christmas
lunch.
The Christmas lunch costs £2.30 (for a main meal and dessert). Unless your child is entitled to
free school meals, this needs to be paid in cash on the day. Unfortunately, due to ongoing
technical problems, we are unable to check or take payment via our online payment system. I
apologise for this and assure you that we are working hard to resolve the issue.
Christmas Showcase
On Wednesday 15th December starting at 7pm, doors open at 6.30pm, we will be presenting
our Christmas Showcase which will be full of music, dance and drama. Refreshments will be
provided and entry is FREE.

Last Day of Term
Friday 17th December will also be non-uniform for all students; Christmas jumpers are
encouraged but not compulsory. We are asking for a donation of £1 per student to raise money
for Balloons, a charity that supports families experiencing bereavement. Our students felt this
was an important charity to support at this time when there are many people who will be
missing loved ones this Christmas.
On the last day of term, we will also be holding rewards events for students, completing
celebration assemblies and holding tutor celebrations. The school day finishes at 1pm.
Stagecoach have arranged for the school buses to collect students at 1.10pm. The canteen will
serve full hot food at break time.

Inset Day
Finally, we just wanted to remind you that Monday 13th December is a non-pupil day.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support this term and
wish you all good health and happiness as we approach Christmas.

Take care and stay safe,
Lindsay Skinner
