Your child will be able to describe the assessments they sat at the end of last term. However, this page gives some further information on the assessments that were taken at the end of last. Each subject has a description of the assessments and year group averages for each assessment.

Year 11 have spent this term revisiting the content for Component 2 in the OCR GCSE for Computer Science. At the end of this cycle they sat a past exam paper and this has been used to calculate their grade.

R108 LO1 Know how to plan the making of a prototype.                                                                     Students completed a Production plan for the construction of their Stereo amplifier circuit. Plans included, description of processes, tools, equipment, quality control, materials, components and Health & Safety requirements.

Enterprise

Terminology and calculations used to analyse the development of three prospect microenterprises, leading to a final justification of enterprise choice. This will result in a grade according to BTEC grade boundaries based on a mark across the LOA section.

English

Application: Students sat AQA’s GCSE Language Paper Two. The paper is split into two sections, reading and writing. The reading section asks students to read and understand two texts, one of which is from the 19th century. They have to answer four reading questions that examine their ability to select and summarise key information, make inferences, analyse language and ideas and compare. In the writing section, students write a persuasive piece, focused on a specified topic, that should usually be two pages in length. Students need to structure their writing and ideas into a cogent piece that is presented in paragraphs and write accurately with a range of punctuation and sentence structures. They also need to use effective vocabulary and literary devices.

Students sat full GCSE papers in listening, reading and writing (three separate exams). These were the 2019 papers and were marked using the AQA GCSE mark scheme. Students will sit a speaking exam in January 2022, meaning they will have completed a mock in all four elements of the French GCSE.

Geography

Students sat a full Paper 2 exam (human geography) with a total of 88 marks available. The paper included Urban Issues & Challenges, Changing Economic World and Resource Management topics. The latter two will become an option to complete one or the other in the summer exam. We will use the outcome of this exam to decide which topic to focus on for revision and not return to the other topic.

RS

The PRE test for Year 11 was an assessment of their knowledge and understanding of Christian Beliefs and practices and themes B and D of the Thematic scheme of learning. It consisted of two sections: The first was a Key words test out of 20 that assessed their basic knowledge of the topic. The second was a section of a past GCSE paper that assessed both their knowledge and skills of the topics.
